Yoga For Every Body

Growing lotus yoga family wellness center

Yoga for every body

As the premier holistic and integrative healthcare facility in South Central Pennsylvania, it is our vision to create a thriving yoga center as an integral part of our wellness programs. The benefits of a regular yoga practice are numerous and well documented. We look forward to meeting you and sharing the wisdom of this time honored tradition with you and your family. “If you are looking for something that’s fun to learn, energizing or your body, and soothing to your soul, look no further.

Who can benefit from yoga?

Yoga can be practiced by any one at any level of fitness, since it is a very individualized system designed to help us to discover how to “honor our boundaries and expect them to expand.” You will discover your own limitations and simultaneously experience them transformed as your practice continues. Yoga can benefit athletes by increasing their range of motion, agility strength and endurance and will help everyone to develop within themselves the knowledge that strength, flexibility and control of one’s body are all interconnected.Yoga is a process in which you watch yourself unfold, developing determination, patience and balance from the inside out.

What to Expect From a Yoga Class

Our yoga classes and teachers offer a diversity of style, training and philosophy. Most classes range from one hour to one and a half hours depending on the particular class chosen. Classes may include movement, postures, breathing, sound, meditation and guided relaxation. Yoga creates a sense of well being that will permeate all areas of your life! ENJOY!

Things to Consider:

  • Feel free to ask questions. The instructor is here for you. Any questions before, during or after class are always welcome.
  • Please let the instructor know of any special condition you may have.
  • It is best to practice yoga on an empty stomach. Allow 2-3 hours between eating and your Yoga class
  • Be sure to listen to your body. During the class follow the instructions and feel free to stop or modify movements whenever necessary.
  • Bring a Yoga mat or a large blanket to class. Mats will be available to purchase for $25 each. A towel and a water bottle are also suggested. You will want to wear comfortable, light and form fitting clothes. Bare feet are best. Leotards, tights, shorts and t-shirts are all acceptable.
  • Drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest. Some students notice a feeling of tiredness in the beginning. Not to worry, this will pass and will be replaced with a feeling of increased energy and profound relaxation. Remember you are involved in a transformational process that uses energy to heal, rebuild and energize. You can maximize these benefits by increasing your water intake and getting rest.
  • In addition to class, practice 2-3 times a week is suggested for optimal results. Please inquire about practice tapes/booklets for home use. Daily practice is ideal.
  • Classes will start and end on time You are welcome to come in early to begin to stretch or center yourself. We try to keep this as a quiet time as a courtesy to others. If you arrive late for class, it is ok. However, please enter as quietly as possible and join in.
  • Class fees are payable to the instructor at the first session.
  • If you are going to be away due to business or vacation, letting the instructor know at the first class of the session will provide you with the opportunity to have a prorate for that session. If you are ill, you may make up the class by taking two classes or coming in on another day if classes are offered. If not, you will receive a credit in the next session only.
  • You are welcome to bring a guest at any time (space permitting). Please check with the instructor for the guest fees.

Yoga Class Descriptions

Gentle Hatha Yoga

This class is suitable for beginning as well as experienced students who enjoy a gentle yet challenging class. We will learn classic yoga postures (asanas) with proper alignment to develop body awareness and openness. We will use the breath along with movement to explore the connection between the physical and energetic body. Our focus will be on achieving correct alignment and building flexibility, balance, and concentration. Students are always encouraged, never intimidated.

Intermediate Hatha Yoga

This class is suitable for people with some yoga experience who wish to build their practice. We will explore more challenging poses, including longer holds, back bends, and inversions.
